Try this activity.

 Click on the right answer.

For example, if we asked what your would answer with the description ‘you change yourself to please them’, you might answer ‘unhealthy’, meaning that you think it’s a sign of an unhealthy relationship.

Topic 1.9

Stop and Think!

Think about your own relationships (e.g. with your friends, carers, girlfriend or boyfriend or with the professionals you interact with regularly, like teachers or coaches).

  • 1. Are there any relationships that you think might be unhealthy?
  • 2. Why do you think this is the case?
Topic 1.10

Peer Pressure

M3_Peer_pressure_NOPROCESSsmall_

Peer pressure is feeling like you have to go along with something because your friends are doing it.

Many young people can experience peer pressure. You may feel pressurised by your friends, by your family, by activity on social media or by others who are close to your age.

M3_Peer_pressure_two_NOPROCESS_

Some people that have been in care feel that they don’t have good role models to look up to. This means that they look to others to act as role models.

Sometimes these other people aren’t exactly the best role models.

Topic 1.11

Relationship Abuse

One

Relationship abuse is when you begin to feel scared or controlled by the person you're with (e.g. when dating or in a long term relationship).

Two

You may be confused because it feels like a loving relationship, but often only when the person gets their way.

Three

It can happen in any relationship and can continue once the relationship is over. It can happen to boys and girls.

What is most important to remember is, it is never your fault.

If you feel you are in an abusive relationship or are not happy with your romantic partnetr, click on topic three for more tips and advice.
